Cunningham & Mears Is a Proud Supporter of Wings

Cunningham & Mears Is a Proud Supporter of WingsOur society does a pretty good job of providing educational opportunities to special needs children. But after they graduate high school many of these people are faced with a very difficult reality that there just aren’t many options for them for what they can do. Wings is an incredible organization that was founded with the goal of filling that void.

Wings is the place where special needs people over the age of 18 go to be together and work during the week. The Wings participants do things like make blankets to be given out by Infant Crisis Services. They make hygiene packets to be given out to under-privileged children. There are too many things that they are doing to list here, but the point is that their hard work gives back to our community. The work that they are doing also gives members a sense of purpose, value and fulfillment.

Last week, we attended the Wings fundraiser. At the end of the live auction, they let us know that Wings had an acute need for a passenger van. The van is needed so that Wings can better serve the community when it is time to deliver the items that they have made for donation. They told us that if there were 25 donors who would agree to give $1,000.00 each, a local car dealership would provide a brand-new passenger van to Wings and donate the difference on the sale price of the van. Cunningham & Mears agreed to be one of the donors toward the purchase price of the van –and I am thrilled to announce that Wings will soon be taking delivery of it.

There were many good people who stepped up last night to make a difference for Wings.  We were happy to be there, too, and even happier to be able to help.
